GHEC Schools will be closed on Wednesday, February 22, and Thursday, February 23. Both will be E-Learning days for GHEC Elementary and Secondary students.

February is School Board Recognition Month. Each of our school board members serves a four-year term. The majority of our school board members have served multiple terms. This year we welcomed our newest school board member, Laura Koch. She replaced Amy Maday, who served as a GHEC school board member for 12 years. Each board member serves on several committees and dedicates numerous hours throughout the year. Our school board members are committed to continuously improving all aspects of the educational experience at GHEC School. Please take a moment to thank our current school board members: Jessica Salic (Chair), Brad Mattson (Vice-Chair), Chris Pytleski (Clerk), Ken Madsen (Treasurer), Ross Gronewald, and Laura Koch. Additionally, please thank Mrs. Amy Maday for her many years of service.

FFA Week Update:
FFA week is technically this week but due to the forecasted weather we have decided to move it to next week February 27th-March 3rd. We want the kids to have all their activities and events they planned to still go on and the weather is making that a bit complicated to have a full week of activities. There are only a few minor changes/additions to the week (view photo to see) If you have any questions please reach out to Mrs. Wagelie

Wednesday is National School Resource Officer (SRO) Appreciation Day. GHEC SRO Deputy Chris Gerhardt has been an extremely valuable colleague in education at GHEC School. Deputy Gerhardt has a proactive approach to his role at GHEC. He focuses on being visible and building relationships with students and staff. We have heard countless stories about how his positive interactions with the GHEC community, including students, continue during his sheriff’s department duties. Deputy Gerhardt provides professional development opportunities for staff and teaches pertinent law enforcement-related topics to students. He is passionate about mental health awareness and incorporates this into how he approaches his interactions with students and staff. Thank you Deputy Gerhardt for the positive impact you have made on the GHEC School family.

Next time you're in the building, you'll have to stop down in the commons to check out this awesome Class of 2023 banner. Thank you to CIA and Sue Petrowiak for giving us a chance to highlight all of our seniors.

We 💜 Math! We spent part of Valentine's Day at the Math Mania Competition in North Mankato. Look at the determination!

Please join me in recognizing our GHEC MS/HS School Counselor, Mrs. McGregor, in celebration of National School Counselor Week. Being a school counselor is just one of the many roles Mrs. McGregor takes on at GHEC School. She has been a very positive addition to our GHEC school community. Her ability to provide emotional, behavioral, and academic guidance is critical to the success of many students (and their families) we serve. Please take a moment to stop by Mrs. McGregor’s office or send her a note of appreciation to recognize how much she means to our students, staff, and extended GHEC school family. Thank you for your hard work and dedication!

Congratulations to our ExCEL Award Recipients, Jorvik Jensen and Eisley Emmert, and our Triple ‘A’ Award recipient, Mandy Pytleski. All three were recognized at a boys basketball game recently.
